What is Olathe Girls Lacrosse?
We are a club lacrosse team that is open to young women, grades 9 through 12, currently enrolled in any Olathe, Spring Hill, Gardner, Edgerton, De Soto, Mill Valley and Lawrence high school. Players of all skill levels, including beginners, are welcome to join.
Can I try it before I join?
Of course! In fact, we encourage it. We offer several chances to come out, learn a few basic skills, and see what you think of the game. Contact us to learn more about opportunities to try it out!
How much does it cost to join Olathe Girls Lacrosse?
Dues for the spring season vary a little each year, depending on the number of girls playing. If you have any concerns about fees, please reach out and we’ll see how we can help.
What equipment will my daughter need for lacrosse?
Players must purchase a uniform, a women's lacrosse stick, protective eyewear, a mouthguard and soccer shoes/cleats to play lacrosse. Lacrosse equipment can be found at sporting goods store, such as Dicks Sporting Goods, Academy Sports, Scheels, etc. If you have questions about equipment, let us know!
What level of player commitment is required?
Each player and one of her parents must sign the OGL Code of Conduct form acknowledging the expectation that each player will show good sportsmanship and behavior, and will attend practices, games and team functions.
When and where are games?
We play against other clubs and schools across the metro. Games are often across Johnson County, Lee’s Summit or Kansas City, MO. Games are typically on Monday and/or Thursday evenings. Our home games are in Olathe, KS.
Can parents get involved?
Yes! We love volunteers and appreciate all the help we can get. Parents can get involved with our board, help out at games and volunteer at fundraising events (marathons, golf tournaments, etc). Please reach out if you would like to get help our team.
Do you need experience to play?
No, we welcome girls who have never played lacrosse before. We have several weeks of practice before our season starts, and girls can learn the basics and be mentored by other more experienced players.
My child isn’t in high school yet, where can she learn lacrosse?
There are two local lacrosse groups who offer excellent training. Once your daughter is a rising freshman, we’d love to have her play with us!
Westside Wild is a non-profit lacrosse club open to girls in 3rd-8th grade with opportunities to play and participate in clinics year round.
KC Elevate offers camps, clinics and recreational league play for pre-K to high school.
